How to not only attract but also retain young talent in banking?
We are proud to have successfully concluded this year's Student Challenge in collaboration with BKS Bank, which gave students a firsthand look into the complexity of HR challenges in the banking sector.
Under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Sergeja Planko, Assistant Professor Dr. Valentina Lošt Lešer, and Monika Strahovnik, students spent the entire semester developing solutions that went beyond theory — confidently presenting them to the bank's management.
Among 35 outstanding students, one of the 5-member teams impressed the expert jury the most and was awarded funds on a trading account as the winning prize.

At the final event, hosted by BKS Bank, the awards were ceremoniously presented by Jana Benčina Henigman, Head of BKS Bank AG – Banking Branch.
Also present was Katja Kraškovic, Dean and Director of GEA College – Faculty of Entrepreneurship, who proudly supported the students and their contributions.
We are proud of our students, who proved they can think like consultants, perform like professionals, and collaborate as true teams.
As the winning team stated:
“We’re happy with the win, but we really worked hard for it. The day before the presentation, we were quite nervous, but once it was all over, we felt true relief and joy.
We’re grateful that our efforts were recognized — it’s a confirmation that we’re thinking in the right direction. It's especially rewarding when a client sees real value and potential for implementation in your idea.
We’d recommend the Student Challenge to all students. You gain additional competencies that can’t be taught in the classroom — and most importantly, you get insight into real business processes.
We’ve learned a lot of practical things that we’ll definitely use in the future. It’s also an amazing opportunity to present yourself to potential employers and connect with successful individuals from various fields.”
Collaborations like the one with BKS Bank are not a coincidence — they are commitments.
We believe that connecting with the business world is key to developing essential skills.
We don’t just aim to create graduates — we strive to shape confident individuals who understand the real market, create value, and start building their careers while still studying.
