Accessibility Statement
Accessibility statement
GEA College is committed to ensuring the accessibility of its website in accordance with the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications Act.
This accessibility statement applies to the website www.gea-college.si, which is the official website of GEA College.
We aim to make the website accessible to the widest possible range of users, and therefore continuously design and adapt it to ensure it is as accessible as possible to users with visual, motor, hearing, speech, or cognitive impairments, as well as to individuals with situational limitations.
Level of Compliance
The website www.gea-college.si is largely compliant with the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications Act (ZDSMA). The website and its content are designed in accordance with international accessibility guidelines for web content and meet the WCAG 2.1 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standard. The website’s accessibility compliance with the WCAG guidelines meets the AA level, with some requirements at the AAA level.
To ensure accessibility requirements, the following adjustments have been made:
-
The accessibility menu allows the selection of several high-contrast display modes, raising the minimum contrast to at least 7:1 (WCAG AAA).
-
It is possible to further emphasize (bold) text.
-
Keyboard navigation through the website is enabled with the use of the Tab key, allowing predictable navigation through website elements.
-
Full operation and use of the site can be done using only the keyboard.
-
A position indicator is placed before the content, showing where we currently are on the website (breadcrumbs, WCAG AAA).
-
All forms are readable by screen readers, fields are properly labelled, error handling is in place, and the operation is predictable.
-
Texts are as clear, simple, and structured as possible, using headings, paragraphs, and lists.
-
Links are appropriately labelled and have descriptions for screen readers.
-
The website complies with the WCAG 2.1 success criteria up to AA level.
Partially Accessible Content
There are instances where the website may not be fully compliant with accessibility standards, but we are committed to providing the best possible user experience. Some challenges include:
- Pages have an appropriate structure with headings (H1-H6) and landmarks, but compliance is ensured only if the design template is followed.
- A minimum contrast of 4.5:1 is provided without additional adjustments, except for text in images, where adherence to contrast ratios depends on the design of individual elements.
- Zooming without information loss is possible up to 200%, but at 400%, certain elements may not display optimally.
- Non-decorative images have appropriate text alternatives (alt), which must be added when content is uploaded.
Inaccessible Content
Despite our efforts to improve the accessibility of the website, some content may not meet all accessibility requirements. These include:
-
Some PDF documents are not accessible, particularly those containing graphic elements or captions. We are considering providing alternative formats for easier accessibility.
-
Videos on the website (including video locations) currently do not have subtitles, which may affect their accessibility.
-
Some content on the website is presented in English, which does not fully comply with WCAG 2.1 A and WCAG 2.1 AA standards. This primarily applies to the Conference & Journal menus and the ABSRC/ABSRJ page, which include English content on an otherwise Slovenian page.
