High school students eager to test their entrepreneurial ideas and develop lifelong skills can participate in the Young Entrepreneur competition.

During the competition, participants:

  • Develop business ideas with the guidance of mentors,
  • Prepare a feasibility analysis and support it with arguments,
  • Confidently present their ideas to an audience.

This is more than just a competition – it’s their first step into the world of business and entrepreneurship!

Competition Structure – Three-Stage Challenge:

  • Preliminary Selection – Project submissions at the school level.
  • Semifinal Selection – Presentation of ideas before the national expert committee.
  • Final Selection – The best teams present their projects in the national competition.

Young Entrepreneur 2025 Competition Announcement

  • The 29th Young Entrepreneur competition is organised by GEA College – Faculty of Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the GEA College Incubator.
  • The competition will be fully hosted at GEA College on April 24, 2025.

Competition Timeline:

  • 10. 3. 2025 – Registration deadline. Each team can have up to 5 members.
  • 2. 4. 2025 –  Submission of required business idea documentation

    The documentation must include: 

    1. Feasibility study (based on predefined TEMPLATES),
    2. A short project presentation (PPT),
    3. A video teaser or promotional advertisement (max. 1 minute).

  • 24. 4. 2025 –  Live semifinal and final competition. Schools advancing to the final will be selected by a national expert committee based on semifinal performance.
  • 1. 10. 2024 – 31. 3. 2025 – Predstavitev tekmovanja in izvedba brezplačnih delavnic za dijake 4. letnikov po srednjih šolah, za tiste šole, ki to želijo.

  • 10. 4. 2025 – Schools qualifying for the national competition will be notified. Submission of complete documentation is required for semifinal qualification.

Competition Rules

  • Article 1
    The Young Entrepreneur competition is organised by GEA College – Faculty of Entrepreneurship.
  • Article 2
    The purpose of this competition is to promote interest in economics and entrepreneurship, enhance knowledge in these fields, identify talented students, and encourage them to deepen their understanding and creativity. The competition highlights the importance of economics and entrepreneurship in both daily and professional life.

Article 3

  •  The national competition consists of multiple stages and is a team-based competition focusing on entrepreneurship and business knowledge.
  • All Slovenian high schools can participate. A teacher-mentor registers the team through the application form available on the GEA College website.
  • The final national stage is based on a preliminary selection process.
  • A specialist committee, appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Entrepreneurship, evaluates applications.
  • The semifinal selection process assesses only complete applications, which must include a feasibility study and video.
  • Feasibility studies are graded from 0 to 10 points, with teams scoring 8 or more advancing to the final.
  • In the final, teams present their video and business idea, with a 10-minute presentation, followed by a 5-minute Q&A with the committee.
  • The top three teams receive awards.
  • Evaluation criteria are detailed in Article 9.
  • Article 4 
    Participation is voluntary. Schools form their teams, with a maximum of 5 students per team. Only currently enrolled students can participate. Teams must submit their application via an official form, sent to all schools upon the competition announcement. If a team member cannot attend, the mentor must notify organisers at least five days before the event.
  • Article 5
    Finalists develop their own business ideas, feasibility analysis, and promotional video, which they present before a panel of experts. Each participant must consent to the public disclosure of competition results, videos, and presentations.
  • Article 6
    The competition is managed by the Competition Organizing Committee, appointed annually by GEA College – Faculty of Entrepreneurship.

    The committee has the following roles:

  • Determines the location, schedule, and competition format.
  • Oversees competition execution.
  • Evaluates participant submissions.
  • Ranks participants and announces results.
  • Awards recognitions.
  • Publishes results on the GEA College website.
  • Prepares a final competition report.
  • Article 7
  • The feasibility study presentation includes a written project, accompanying documentation, and a PowerPoint-based oral defence before a panel.
  • The presentation is public and lasts up to 10 minutes.
  • Mentors are not allowed to assist teams during the presentation.
  • Article 8
    All feasibility studies must be submitted on time and in Slovenian. They must include all required elements. Summaries must be emailed to the competition organisers before the submission deadline.
  • Article 9
    Projects are evaluated based on specific criteria outlined on the GEA College website.GEA College.
  • Article 10
    Competition results are public and will be announced within 14 days of the event on the GEA College website. Appeals regarding evaluations or competition execution can be submitted in writing within 8 days after the event. No appeals will be considered after this period.
  • Article 11
  • The Organizing Committee awards certificates and practical prizes.
  • Each participant receives a certificate of participation.
  • The top three teams receive special certificates for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
  • GEA College awards scholarships for the 1st year of its Entrepreneurship program to members of the top three teams. This award is non-transferable.
  • Article 12
    All certificates are issued with the seal and signature of the Dean of GEA College – Faculty of Entrepreneurship.
  • Article 13
    Submitted feasibility studies are stored for one year, after which they are destroyed by the organizing committee.
  • Article 14
    All competition costs, except travel expenses for participants and mentors, are covered by GEA College through internal funding and sponsorships.
  • Article 15
    For additional questions or appeals related to the competition’s execution, organization, scoring, or awards, mentors and participants can contact the competition organisers.
