First-hand experiences

Mojca Ahac, University of Lincoln (Lincoln, United Kingdom– Study exchange)
The experience was truly unique and exciting. I would recommend it to everyone. Visiting foreign institutions as a student gives you a great opportunity to explore different cultures and traditions—not only of the country you visit but also of other Erasmus+ students you meet along the way. During my mobility, I had the chance to connect with many fascinating individuals and form friendships that I will cherish for a long time. Most students came from Europe, but I also met people from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Despite the distances, we’ve already made plans to reunite and visit each other in the near future.

My mobility at Cesine Business School during the spring semester of 2022/23 was an incredible experience, filled with personal growth, engaging learning, and unforgettable moments. The university welcomed us with positive energy, and the Erasmus coordinator, Mario, was always available to address our questions and concerns. The student community stayed connected through two WhatsApp groups, keeping us informed about faculty updates and city events, which greatly helped us adapt to life in Spain. Upon arrival, we settled into an apartment we found through Airbnb. However, I would recommend searching for accommodation via the Idealista website, as it proved to be a more optimal solution. The courses at the university were not overly demanding but were engaging, with an 80% mandatory attendance requirement. Professors guided us through individual and group assignments and were always available for assistance and advice. Their approach made us feel valued—not just as numbers, but as individuals with unique ideas and perspectives. In Santander, we made many friends from all over the world, some of whom we still stay in touch with and plan to meet again. The city itself is truly captivating. From beaches and cliffs to the magnificent palace on the peninsula, Santander offered endless opportunities for exploration. As a passionate football fan, I also enjoyed the vibrant football culture in the city. Together with Tristan and other Erasmus friends, we regularly attended home matches of Real Racing Club. We also frequently visited Bilbao, just 1.5 hours away, and had the opportunity to explore many other cities across Spain. This experience was priceless. At Cesine Business School and in Santander, I not only expanded my academic knowledge but also broadened my horizons and created memories for a lifetime.

Erasmus is an experience I will never forget! I met so many people, formed amazing friendships, and had an incredible time. To anyone who has the opportunity, I highly recommend applying for Erasmus mobility—it truly guarantees an unforgettable experience. Santander is a beautiful city located right next to Sardinero Beach, so at the beginning of the semester, my friends and I would go to the beach every day after classes—it was absolutely fantastic. I would definitely recommend Santander to anyone who enjoys smaller and quieter cities.

I took the last opportunity for a study exchange and spent the winter semester at an English university – University of Lincoln. My experience was incredibly positive, and I’m so grateful for it. It gave me a broader perspective on life abroad and the chance to experience something completely different. Most importantly, this exchange contributed to my personal growth, helping me develop a more open mindset. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a new challenge in life, invaluable connections, and unforgettable experiences.

The experience was truly unforgettable, and I highly recommend it to every student. I learned to be independent and manage my finances wisely. I met people from all over the world and built friendships that will last a lifetime. You get to know many different cultures, but you also learn a lot about yourself. Personally, I realized that studying abroad suits me, and I’m already considering where to pursue my master’s degree—something I couldn’t have imagined before Erasmus. My fondest memories will always include Poppy and Charlotte, with whom I’m already planning our next reunion. However, I won’t miss cycling every day, even in thunderstorms.
