What and Why?
At the free entrepreneurial workshops of the GEA College Incubator, you can gain valuable knowledge and improve your entrepreneurial skills.
Who is it for?
All events are aimed at innovative potential entrepreneurs (innovative individuals, high school students, university students, educators, researchers), as well as new and existing companies with high growth potential (start-ups).
Past Entrepreneurship Workshops
Are you an entrepreneur with an innovative idea looking for funding for development? Are you considering applying for the P2 call by the Slovenian Enterprise Fund, which supports innovative young companies up to 14 months old? Join our workshop and get fully prepared for the P2 call in 2025!
In the workshop, you will learn:
- Overview of the P2 call for 2024: What were the requirements, who was successful, and what were the successful practices.
- Examples of good application practices: In-depth analysis of successful applications from previous years and key tips.
- How to prepare a competitive application: What is important in the application, what to avoid, and what to pay attention to.
- Preparation for the pitch in front of the commission: How to present your idea and company in the best possible way to the commission.
- Support from the GEA College Incubator: How we can help you prepare for the call and guide you through the application process.
- Questions and answers from participants: We will answer all your questions and direct you to the right path for a successful application.
Who is the workshop intended for:
The workshop is intended for all young entrepreneurs who are in the early stages of developing their business or have already started their entrepreneurial journey and are seeking funding and support for growth.

How to set up a strategy and original campaign for securing investments? Who are business angels and venture capitalists? Which platform to use to ensure your startup’s success? In this workshop, you will learn modern methods for raising funds, the best practices, and platforms for securing investments.
What we will learn:

Instructor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mitja Jeraj is an associate professor and researcher at GEA College – Faculty of Entrepreneurship in Ljubljana. He researches in the fields of entrepreneurship, management, and organizational studies. He is also active in entrepreneurship as a co-founder and CEO of a startup company that develops an innovative system for better sleep and waking up. Before that, he worked in sectors such as research and development, as a business consultant, in logistics, and in his own and other companies.

In this workshop, we will help you understand the everyday functioning of the financial system and its connection to the real economy. We aim to encourage saving habits towards investing, not just saving in traditional forms (such as a bank).
What we will learn:
- Understanding how the financial system is embedded
- The connection between the financial system and the real economy (business)
- Comparing savings composition in Slovenia with similar countries in the Eurozone
- The difference between saving and investing
- Overview of how basic capital markets operate
- Overview and principles of the most important asset classes
- Approach to personal finances and portfolio creation
- Some interesting graphical displays and calculations on this topic
Instructor: Matej Tadej Jerman is a university graduate economist specializing in finance. He has eighteen years of experience in financial markets, the macroeconomic environment, and banking. For the last two years, he has been focused on developing and implementing alternative contractual sales channels and conducting educational programs. Prior to this, he worked mainly in personal financial advising, emphasizing professionalism, transparency, and finding optimal solutions for clients of various profiles.

A term we hear at every turn in business. What is marketing in brief? What is a marketing strategy, and why must a company have one? Examples of successful marketing campaigns, as well as cases that were theoretically well-planned but failed in practice.
What we will learn:
- Some marketing tools to help in developing a marketing strategy
- What is the “marketing funnel”?
- Basic terms (CPC, CPA, CTR, etc.)
Goal:
The workshop aims to help you understand the basic concepts of marketing, highlight and raise awareness about common (fatal) mistakes that should be recognized and avoided during the process of creating a marketing strategy.
Instructor: Iztok Sila has gained experience in leading marketing agencies in Slovenia and Croatia. He has collaborated with international advertising and media agency networks, managing domestic, regional, and global clients and brands from various industries. Before founding Sila & Modic Consulting (www.sila-modic.si), he led marketing and public relations at Mladinska Knjiga Publishing, and before that, he was the marketing director at Telekom Slovenije. He is the recipient of the “Marketing Director of the Year” award, presented by the Marketing Association of Slovenia.

For successful collaboration with these business stakeholders, it’s essential how we present our business idea. Careful preparation is key for a convincing presentation. You will gain practical exercises and clear guidance on how to start building your presentation, what to include, and how to present it to the target audience.
If you are preparing to present your idea to a committee, this workshop could be very beneficial for you.
What we will learn:
- How to approach preparing a presentation of your idea.
- The structure of a good presentation.
- How to make the presentation dynamic and interesting.
Instructor: Aleša Mihelič, MA, is involved in the SIO project, planning, organizing, and conducting educational seminars for startups. She has been a mentor to various startups for many years. Her career began in marketing, organizing, and conducting various events. She has been a project manager for major clients in various advertising agencies. Currently, she focuses most of her work on supporting young idea-makers.

In 2024, the P2 call will be announced by the Slovenian Business Fund for innovative companies aged up to 14 months.

This session is aimed at those just starting their entrepreneurial journey as well as entrepreneurs who are already on their path and wish to apply for one of the grant-based calls.
